Old Tweet Finder
Enter an X/Twitter username and this old tweet finder shows how many of the account’s old tweets were saved as snapshots, the dates they cover and a few readable samples. It works whether the account is live or gone. It shows what was saved, not whether a tweet is still on X.
Have one tweet’s link instead? The deleted tweet viewer checks it for free, with no sign-in.
How to find old tweets from an account
Old tweets are the ones buried far down a timeline, or on an account that has since changed or gone. The finder starts from the username and works from saved snapshots of the account’s public tweet pages, so you can see how far back its saved tweets reach before you spend anything.
- 01
Enter the username
Type the account’s handle, with or without the @. Capital letters don’t matter, and no X login is asked for.
- 02
Read the free preview
It scans the snapshot index for the account, then shows how many unique tweets were found, the date range they cover and a few readable samples. It usually finishes in under a minute.
- 03
Unlock the archive if it looks useful
Sign in with Google and pay $4.99 once for that account. The archive lists up to 1,000 of its tweets and stays open for 30 days.
- 04
Search and filter the old tweets
Search the saved text, set a From and To month, filter by original tweets, replies, quotes or reposts, look at the saved images, and export everything to CSV or JSON.
How to view and search old tweets
Each old tweet in an unlocked archive is shown as it was saved: its text, the date it was posted (from the saved page, or worked out from the tweet ID), any image whose file was also saved, whether it was a reply, a quote or a repost when the saved page shows it, and the time the snapshot was captured. That capture time matters: it tells you which moment of the tweet you are looking at.
To search old tweets, type words into the archive’s search box. To reach a particular time, set the From and To months. The search covers only the account you unlocked and only the tweets that were saved. It isn’t a search of all of X, and it can’t find a tweet that was never saved.
How to find old tweets from a deleted account
An account that was deleted, deactivated or suspended stops loading on X, and its tweets go with it. The old tweets that can still be found are the ones whose pages were saved while the account was public. Snapshots are filed under the username the account had at the time, so enter that username. If the account was renamed, search the old and the new username separately.
Treat what you find as a record of what was saved, not a full history: many tweets were never saved, and a result can’t say why the account is gone. The guide to seeing a deleted Twitter account explains how to read what comes back.
Other ways to find old tweets
The finder is one route among several. Which one fits depends on whose tweets they are and whether the account still loads.
Your own tweets
While signed in, X’s advanced search can limit a search to your account and a date range. The same filters can be typed as from:yourname, since: and until:. You can also request a download of your own account data in your account settings.
Someone else’s account that still loads
The same advanced search works while you are signed in. Signed out, X sent a search to a login page when we tried it on October 12, 2026.
A search engine
Search Google or Bing for site:x.com plus the words you remember, then repeat with site:twitter.com. It only lists tweet pages the search engine has indexed.
One tweet’s link
Paste it into the deleted tweet viewer. It lists every saved snapshot of that tweet, with its text and image where saved and when each copy was captured.
The guide on how to search and view X without an account walks through what a signed-out visitor can still do.
What the old tweet finder can’t do
- Search all of X for a phrase. It works from one username at a time.
- Find tweets that were never saved. Many ordinary tweets never were, and the newest ones are the most likely to be missing.
- Reach protected accounts, direct messages, likes, bookmarks or lists. These were never on public tweet pages.
- Say whether a tweet is still on X. Every result is marked “Current status unknown”; open the link on X to check.
Why the newest tweets are the most likely to be missing is covered in the guide on why recent tweets don’t show up yet.
Quick answers
What is an old tweet finder?
An old tweet finder looks up tweets that are hard to reach on X itself, because they sit far back in a timeline or belong to an account that has changed or gone. The Deleted Tweet Finder version works from a username: it lists the tweets found in saved snapshots of the account’s public tweet pages, with the date range they cover.
How do I find old tweets?
Enter the account’s username in the old tweet finder for a free preview of how many of its tweets were saved. To read and search them, unlock the account’s archive. With only one tweet’s link, use the free deleted tweet viewer instead. Only tweets whose pages were saved can be found.
How can I view old tweets from an account that no longer exists?
Search the username the account had when the tweets were posted. The old tweet finder reads saved snapshots rather than X, so an account that was deleted, deactivated or suspended can still return tweets, as long as their pages were saved while they were public. If the account was renamed, search each username.
How do I search old tweets by keyword or date?
Inside an unlocked archive you can search the saved text and set a From and To month, but only within that one account. On X itself, signed-in advanced search can limit results to an account and a date range (from:, since: and until:). Deleted Tweet Finder can’t search every account at once.
How can I see old tweets without logging in to X?
The old tweet finder and the deleted tweet viewer need no X account and never ask for X credentials, because they read saved snapshots instead of X. The free preview and the link check need no sign-in at all; only unlocking an archive asks you to sign in with Google.
Is the old tweet finder free?
The username preview and the link check are free. Reading, searching and exporting all of an account’s tweets is a one-time $4.99 unlock for that account, kept for 30 days.
Does the old tweet finder only show deleted tweets?
No. It finds saved snapshots of old tweets whether or not they are still on X, and it never checks which. Every result is marked “Current status unknown”. To see whether a tweet is still up, open its link on X.
